Just be happy!

Tenna was very tired last night. She started to have a bit of a breakdown while she and Albert were "doing dishes." I asked her if she wanted help moving her chair..."no,".....does she want to use the rag and wash dishes...."no,"....do you want to pout...."no." So I said "Well then you better just be happy and smile and laugh!" To which she promptly forced out a laugh and a smile. Of course this had us all laughing in about ten seconds. What a good kid!

Las Vegas

The girls and I just got back from a visit to Las Vegas to see Sarah and Gracie. While we were there we went to the Spring(something) preserve. It was interesting, though maybe a bit too old for the kids in saome respects. When you enter you go through a "canyon," with caves and animal noises, etc. Tenna decided the cayote call was her favorite and continues to use it at random intervals. Gave a few old folks the chuckles.
They had a lot of exhibits concerning water (being in the desert and all). Andi enjoyed the granite fountains that turned from the water moving in them. I thought it was so neat that so much was accessable to touch!
Tenna and Gracie don't quite have the stick-to-it-ive-ness to be archeaologists.

The playground

The playground at the preserve was pretty cool. Tenna thought the snake was definately an item of interest, but maybe not so good. It made an easy game when we had to go home though....run bunny run, snakes comin'!

Play time!

The little play area had a train, build-a-birds-nest, sand bed, turtle spinners, and of course a water trough. This was the favorite part of the preserve.
Tenna and water....that kid loves to "make dishes."
Andi is a bit of a starter. She was laying down in the sand bouncing her booty, and there is bound to be another kid who will follow! I don't think her mom thought it was so funny that her 3 year old was doing it though, oh well.
Now, I like this picture because I think Tenna is very cute, but also. can you see what is going on with the kids behind her? ;)

Happy Halloween!!!

Well, we had a GREAT time. The girls got a lot of candy, and loved seeing all the pumpkins! There was some minor trauma with some scary costumes, but all is well. Tenna was a princess riding a horsey thingy, whatever. Andi was a horse. There was a lot of nickerying and braying going on tonght I tell you what! There was also a lot of crawling around on the floor before going out!

Model moments

Ok, this is dumb, but I wanted to get some shots of the girls that I thought showed how increadible model worthy they are. Unfortunately I am not very tallented our camera, but I think I captured a bit of their spirit. I picked this one as my favorite for Andi. She is so inquisitive and spirited, but still so gentle.
BTW, I am sorry it has taken me so long to post, I had miplaced the camera. I will try to post some projects later, but the girls are my priority for posts right now ;)

More fun with Andi...

So here are some more of Andi. The kids were having a great time pulling the greens off of my fall onions, and we had some errant corn pop up that is a real kick, so enjoy girls! Tenna did decide she was not to excited about the LARGE spider she found. Andi didn't care though. Too bad dirt isn't an essential food group, she would have that base covered!

No. 1 for Tenna

This is my pick for favorite picture today of Tenna! I dunno why. I love her whispy hair and her expression of anticipation, kids are great!

Bread brings out the best...

I have been sorking very hard to improve my bread recipe and I think we have pretty much found perfection (at least for our taste buds). Anywho, the girls were happily munching on some bread just out of the oven when Tenna started throwing bits in the air....

Grape jam and pegacorns

Last night I made jam...yes jam from some grapes we picked at a friends house. I tried to figure out how to get all the seeds out, but without a food mill quite a few slipped through. Oh well. The grapes are so sweet and the jam...well more like a preserve is already a favorite. So now we have green and purple grape jam! Both girls are showing off their new treat in these photos.
We found the PERFECT Halloween costume for Tenna this week. I was trying to convince her to be a dragon (a new favorite of hers, thank you Library), but she found this one, so there was no debate!

She always wants the horsey to wear shoes so it can go outside with her and play. But playing inside still gets her plenty tired! What a long ride!

Andi's turn

Time to talk about Andi....She had been such a little ham this week. Her favorite thing is to pull herself up on your leg then let go and throw her arms over her head with a look of triumph! Look I can stand! Then carefully sit down before she falls ;)
We had a suprise today...SNOW! The forecast called for rain and 58 degrees, instead the snow came and began to stick after an hour or two. When Andi went down for her nap Tenna and I headed out back to pick the remaining tomatoes and squash. She looked so cute in her alpaca (sp?) sweater that her daddy bought for her in Equador....I wish I had thought to get her in the photo...sigh. She only lasted about 5 minutes then her hands were "way cold," so she went back inside.
Andi LOVES being a girl. She particularly enjoys accesori-bling. I never knew you could get a kid to keep glasses and hats on without rubberbands and super glue, but styl is her adhesive! She is quite pleased with her little scarf here.

A good day

I must admit, most of the stories today are about Tenna, but I guess it's all ebb and flow.
So first of all I would like to let you all know that there is still some California girl left in me, and I am passing it on. Tenna is in the habit of saying "way," a lot. Things like "way cold," "way sad," et.c
Since it is Sunday I have to share her Sacrament story. When the Sacrament starts it is always difficult to keep kids relaxed and quiet, so we talk about Jesus and how nice he is etc. We discuss the bread and water and how it helps us remember Him. Well today she must have got it in her head that He is the one passing it out, because right after eating the bread she says (thankfully in something of a reverent tone) "thank you Jesus," then proceeds to say hi to the young man refering to him in kind. We had to explain that one a little to her, but I thought it was so cutet.
The pictures are from a little drive we took up to Huntington resevoir this evening. It was off and on rainy, but the girls enjoyed it.

Tenna and daddy played "throw it," for a while (throwing rocks into the water) until they were quite wet. Andi and I walked around a bit then I let her "drive," until they came back. The colors up the canyon are stunning, though only starting to turn. The smell of rotting leaves was like a cup of hot apple cider. I couldn't believe what a sweet smell there was up there out of the city. *le sigh*

Oh yeah

I am bad about copyright stuff. The basic pattern for the icecream cone is from this months edition of crochet today!
I had to put this pic up of Andi in her new favorite toy. We bought this as a kiddie pool, but it has grown cooler, so it is the ball box. She will entertain herself for a half hour in this thing (which is fantastic for a 12 month-old). So fun! Tenna will even sit in the lid and they will throw balls back and forth.

Let's be honest ladies!

A picture is worth a thousand words!!! Well, anyways. I would like to dedicate this post to all of the WONDERFUL women who's blogs I read. I would also like to dedicate it to those who read this and have no blogs YET(ie. Amy, get on that would you!)
While conversing with a friend I realized that there is too much of the sunny side of my life on here. I have decided to put on a realistic post and would love to see some of your days too. Grantid, I know some of you really ARE super-mom of the aeon, but I am not, so here goes....keep in mind it is not yet 2pm...

Bad mom! You...

1. ...gave Andi (12mos.) chocolate ice cream after breakfast! Why? Oh because you were too busy doing dishes and didn't catch her when she fell and cut her lip. Hey you need something to reduce swelling.
2. ...gave Tenna a starburst after giving Andi ice cream, because it only seemed fair.
3. ...took Tenna outside in your pajamas and worked in the garden (in her pajamas too).
4. ...let Andi push the power button on the TV about a humdered times (shhhhh don't tell albert.)
5. ...are sitting on the computer instead of cleaning!
6. ... are not going to make it to the gym today!

Good mom! You...
1. ... had whole wheat bleander pancakes with fresh honedew mellon for breakfast.
2. ...are going to snack on toasted chickpeas and fresh tomatoes at the park today.
3. ...finally finished the crocheted (how do you write that??) icecream cone.
4. ...going to teach your visiting teachee how to can tonight.
5. ...did dishes. Again.
6. ...are going to go back to cleaning now! ;) And hang your laundry to dry.

Thanks, I feel much better. Sometimes it is nice to realize it isn't all bad!
